Store shooting suspect apprehended
Less than 24 hours after a shooting at a Lehigh Acres business, a repeat offender, and frequent customer, is behind bars.
Just before 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, a customer known as “Marvins” entered Caribbean Cycles, located at 322 Gunnery Road S. After becoming agitated during a conversation with the businesses owner, he was asked to leave. Knowing from previous experience that “Marvins” typically carried a firearm, the owner started to retreat to his office. Moments later, “Marvins” pulled out a gun from his waistband and shot at the owner. Fortunately, he wasn’t struck, however the bullet did penetrate through the bathroom wall.
Through witness descriptions, “Marvins” was quickly identified as Marvins Labissiere (DOB 6/24/92). Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office’s Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Warrants Task Force, immediately began their hunt for the shooting suspect and less than 24 hours after the violent outburst, Labissiere was taken into custody. He was tracked down Friday afternoon at State Road 82 and Haviland Avenue in Lehigh and booked into the jail around 4 p.m., charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and shooting into a dwelling. Labissiere has four prior arrests for two counts of battery and two counts of driving with a suspended or revoked license. Note: Labissiere’s booking photo from Friday afternoon is attached to this release.
