Bank robbery suspect sought in Punta Gorda

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down an unknown suspect who robbed a Punta Gorda bank this afternoon.

At approximately 2:17 p.m. on May 30th, the suspect entered the BB&T Bank, located at 2390 Tamiami Trail.  The suspect implied to the teller that he was armed, and demanded all the cash from the register.  Upon receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled across the front of the bank on foot in an unknown direction.  He is described as a white male in his late 40s or early 50s, and wore a tan ball cap, blue short sleeved shirt, blue jean shorts and sandals during the robbery.
