Burglar targets same store twice in one month

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down a burglar who broke into a Fort Myers business twice in the last three weeks.

The first incident occurred on September 6, when the unidentified male ripped an air conditioning unit out of Creative Windows, located at 3540 Canal Street in Fort Myers.  After dumping the unit onto the ground, he made his way into the business, collecting a TV, laptop computer and drill set.  The suspect was seen on video tossing the items out of the window and leaving on foot in an unknown direction.

Last night, on September 23rd, around 9:30 p.m., the business owner was off site and checked his surveillance system remotely and could tell that a male was inside the business.  He immediately contacted the Fort Myers Police Department, however the suspect managed to get away, toting a laptop and computer monitor.

After reviewing video from both burglaries, detectives believe the same man is responsible for both crimes.  He is described as a black or Hispanic male, with a medium build and short cropped hair.  Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.

Note:  Four still photographs of the suspect, compiled from both burglaries, are attached to this release.  There is no video available at this time.
