Cigarette thief strikes stores two mornings in a row

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who committed back to back thefts over the last two mornings.

On Wednesday, January 17, the suspect entered the Circle K, located at 4600 Bayline Drive in North Fort Myers just after 4 a.m. and asked the clerk for two cartons of Newport cigarettes.  After the cartons were placed on the counter, the suspect took off and fled the area in a grey GMC Yukon.  This morning, just before 3:25 a.m., the same man entered the 7 Eleven, located at 13420 Palomino Drive, and asked for two cartons of Newport cigarettes.  After the cartons were placed on the counter, the suspect again took off with the cigarettes without paying for them and fled westbound on Daniels Parkway in a SUV.

Surveillance video shows that the suspect wore the same clothing during both thefts.  He is described as a black male in his late 30s or early 40s.  Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
