Duo sought after daytime home burglary
Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down two men responsible for a home burglary which occurred in broad daylight last week.
In the early afternoon hours of Friday, May 26, a black VW was seen driving around the cul de sac on Lightning Bug Court in Lee County. A witness saw two Hispanic men walk from the car to a nearby house. Shortly thereafter, the homeowner at 9050 Lightning Bug Court arrived home, only to find her entire home ransacked and more than $15,000 in jewelry stolen. Deputies discovered that the screen of a window at the rear of the house had been removed and the sliding glass door had been pryed open. Once inside, the men opened drawers and closets, throwing the contents all over the floor. Surveillance video from a neighbor showed that the men were inside the home for a total of 22 minutes, while two unknown females waited inside the VW car. Cameras captured images of the suspects, and now Crime Stoppers hopes the public can place names with these faces.
Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
Note: Four surveillance stills of the suspects and their vehicle are attached to this release. There is also video available in DVD format (as the content is too large to email). The video is very clear. DVD’s will be available for pick up at the Crime Stoppers office between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. today.
