Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is blanketing Hendry County with mass mailings this week in hopes of securing new information which could assist in solving a January homicide which occurred in Lee County.
Over the next day or two, residents in Hendry County will be receiving a flyer in their mailbox asking for information on the murder of Jontavious Thomas. Although the homicide occurred in Lehigh Acres in January 2017, investigators believe there are likely individuals who reside in Hendry County who may have knowledge of the person or persons responsible for his death or motives behind this act of violence. Also mentioned on the card is the $30,000 reward for information leading to an arrest – $1,000 being provided through Crime Stoppers and $29,000 being provided through an anonymous source. Approximately 5,000 flyers will be placed in Hendry County mailboxes.
“By blanketing the Hendry County community, we are hoping that someone will recognize Jontavious’ picture and be willing to share information they have about him and people who knew him in the Labelle community,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “We hope the mailers will remind residents that this homicide is still unsolved and that the answers needed to make an arrest may lie in their hands.”
Anyone with information on the murder of Jontavious Thomas is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $29,000 from an anonymous donor. Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or through the P3Tips mobile app.
