Reward increased for information in brutal teen beating
Just over a week after a North Fort Myers teen was severely beaten, the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his attackers has been increased.
Friends and family of 19 year old Tanner Mounce are offering an additional $1,000 reward for information that will hold the teenage assailants responsible for their violent actions. Mounce had just arrived at a party in North Cape Coral on July 17th when a group of 6 to 12 teenage boys jumped him. Mounce managed to get away from the teens twice, eventually seeking shelter underneath his truck. The teens then pulled him from underneath the truck and dragged him by his hair across a vacant field where he was beaten severely. A friend saw the melee and jumped in to rescue his friend. By that point, however, Mounce’s jaw was ripped out of socket and several teeth were knocked out. He currently has his mouth wired shut and is working to recover from the injuries he sustained that night.
At the time of the beating, there were between 20 and 30 young men and women standing nearby, however few have offered to cooperate with law enforcement and provide names of the individuals responsible for the attack. With the increased reward, Crime Stoppers is hopeful that someone will come forward with information that will lead to several arrests.
“This young man is struggling and suffering a great deal from the beatings of several teenagers,” said Trish Routte, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “There were plenty of witnesses on hand that night who could have helped him. Even though they decided not to render physical help, they can still lend their assistance now by coming forward anonymously and sharing whatever information they have about the persons responsible for these extensive injuries. These young adults had the capacity to exert brutal violence on Mr. Mounce and we don’t want to see anyone else fall prey to their actions.”
Anyone with information on the identities of the persons responsible for the assault on Tanner Mounce is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers and $1,000 for an arrest and conviction from the friends and family of Tanner Mounce.
