Robber at large after attacking elderly woman

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying and tracking down an unknown male who robbed a 70 year old woman in the parking lot of the North Fort Myers Wal Mart early Saturday evening.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the victim was walking from the parking lot towards the store, located at 545 Pine Island Road.  She was approached by a white male who grabbed her purse from under her arm, causing her to fall to the ground.  The suspect immediately jumped into the passenger side of a tan or light brown pick up truck, which headed northbound on US 41.  Fortunately, the victim only sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.

The suspect is described as between 55 and 60 years old, medium height, with a thin build and curly grey or white shoulder length hair.  The truck he fled in is believed to be a Toyota Tacoma or Tundra, with a missing tailgate.

Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery, or who has information on the suspect or the vehicle he left in, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.

Note:  A surveillance photograph of the truck the suspect fled in is attached to this release.
