On November 28, 2007, the Fort Myers Police Department and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a shooting in the parking lot of a convenience store located at Fowler Street and Hanson Street, when a fight started between subjects in the area. A black male adult fired several shots across the parking lot striking Michael Lennett in the back. Lennett later died at Lee Memorial Hospital.

On March 26, 1989, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous phone call that a person was possibly deceased in a drainage canal. The canal was near a homeless camp at the rear of the Walmart Plaza on North Cleveland Avenue in North Fort Myers. Deputies arrived and discovered a deceased male. The decedent was identified as Jack Parker, a white male with a date of birth of July 9, 1916. The death was ruled a homicide. The investigation continues.

On May 15, 1994, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the rear of Carter Finley Funeral Home, located at 3696 Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard in Fort Myers. Deputies found a male laying on the ground deceased. Detectives were notified and assumed the investigation. The subject was later identified as Lester Davenport, a black male with a date of birth of May 23, 1960. Davenport was last seen alive at Nightingales Bar located on Dupree Street. The death was determined to be a homicide.

On February 20, 2002, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible homicide in the area of Edison Avenue and Henderson Avenue in Fort Myers. A 1997 black Ford Sport Utility vehicle was found with two males inside. Deputies responded and located the passenger of the vehicle deceased. The decedent was later identified as Christopher Hunt, a white male born May 17, 1969. This death was ruled a homicide. The investigation continues.

#TheSearchContinues for the identity of the driver who took Akeera Shanks’ life
Sometime between the late night hours of October 21, 2017 and the early morning of October 22, 2017, an unknown driver travelling on 40th Street in Lehigh struck and killed Akeera “Kee Kee” Shanks. Her body was left on the side of the road for at least a half day before eventually being found by a bicyclist.
Although some leads were generated shortly after the crash, investigators are now in a holding pattern and are hopeful that someone who knows something about the driver will finally clear their conscience and come forward.

On February 13, 1994, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 1560-I Street on Fort Myers Beach in reference to reports of a fire. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered a male with burn injuries. The male was identified as Charles Andrew McLenon, a white male with a date of birth of April 6, 1968. McLenon was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on March 17, 1994.

On February 17, 2010 the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call for a well-being check at 8355 Penny Drive in North Fort Myers. When deputies arrived they were unable to locate the subject, later identified as Dawn Lofton, a white female with a date of birth of January 3, 1973. During the investigation it appeared the circumstances surrounding her disappearance were suspicious. On April 9, 2010, Dawn Lofton’s body was found near the intersection of Alabama Road and State Road 82. Her death was determined to be a homicide. The investigation continues.

On May 23, 2016, Fort Myers police responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Blake Street near Cranford Avenue in Fort Myers. The male victim, identified as 34-year-old Victor Lamar Johnson, was seated in a silver Nissan when a black Dodge pickup truck with tinted windows pulled up next to him. Three black males occupied the truck, one of which fired a rifle from the bed of the truck killing Johnson.
