Sneaky shoplifters steal smokes

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two black men who worked in tandem to steal more than $2,000 worth of Newport cigarettes from a Lee County gas station early Wednesday morning.

Around 4:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15th, two suspects walked into the Pilot store, located at 6050 Plaza Drive.  While one male distracted the clerk on duty through conversation, the second suspect went behind the counter and removed carton after carton of cigarettes from an unlocked drawer behind the sales counter.  After $2,200 worth of Newport cigarettes were stuffed into a black trash bag, the men left the store in a white four door sedan.

The first suspect is a black male, wearing a black long sleeved shirt, black pants and a black skull cap.  The second suspect wore a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a blue ball cap with orange writing.  In total 33 cartons were taken,

Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of the suspects are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
