Thief takes under a minute to burglarize North Fort Myers business

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying an unknown suspect who broke into a North Fort Myers business early Monday morning.
Surveillance cameras captured images of headlights from a car pulling up in front of Rick Johnson Auto and Tire, located at 5785 Bayshore Road, around 1:26 a.m. on Monday, September 5.  Moments later, a heavy build white male, covering up his face with a t-shirt, could be seen making a beeline to the store’s cash register, prying it open and removing all cash.  In less than a minute’s time, he exited the store through the front door, which triggered an audible alarm.  The suspect, however, managed to leave the area before deputies arrived approximately one minute after the alarm sounded.

Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com.

Note:  Surveillance video from the burglary is attached to this release.
