Thieves target Bonita store twice in three weeks

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying two thieves who broke into a Bonita Springs convenience store twice over the last three weeks.

The first incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 27, when two unknown suspects smashed through the front glass door of Benson’s Grocery Store, located at 27301 Old 41 Road.  Once inside the building, the men broke into a game coin machine and stole all the money inside, then proceeded to the cash registers, which they emptied out.  The suspects took a grocery bag and filled it several packs of Newport cigarettes and several rolls of coins on a nearby shelf before leaving on foot.

Just before 1:30 a.m. this morning, two unidentified suspects broke through the recently repaired front door of Benson’s Grocery Store and headed directly to the cash register drawers, and removed all the contents.  In addition to the cash, the duo also stole several rolls of dimes and quarters.  After reviewing surveillance videos, there is a strong resemblance between the suspects from the June 27 burglary and this morning’s break-in.

One suspect is described as a white male, 5’6”, 145 pound, wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, a teal t-shirt and a mask.  The second suspect matches the first suspect’s physical description, however was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.  Cash and coins taken from this morning’s break-in were thrown into a black backpack.

Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of the two suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip through the P3Tips mobile app.

Note:  Several photographs from both burglaries are attached.  There is no video available at this time.
