Weekend death ruled as hit and run

Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help generating any information in regards to a fatal hit and run crash in Lehigh Acres late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, October 21-22nd.

Around noon on Sunday, Oct. 22, a passer-by in the area of 40th Street SW and Rena Avenue S. found a female lying face down on the side of the road.  Detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office have determined that the female was struck by an unknown driver in the overnight or early morning hours.  The driver did not stop to render assistance, but rather continued on their path.  The vehicle involved is likely to have sustained front end damage.  The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Anyone who was in the area of 40th Street SW and Rena Avenue S. late in the evening Saturday or early in the morning on Sunday, who may have spotted any suspicious drivers or come across a vehicle with damage consistent with a hit and run crash, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
