On December 17, 1989, at approximately 3:27 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a passerby that found a body in the woods near a rest area at Daniels Parkway off I-75 in Fort Myers. The victim as identified as 25-year-old Coleen Egland, a white female with the date of birth of December 18, 1963. Egland had severe injuries to her head and face. She was last seen in the area of Gladiolus Drive on December 2, 1989. Her death was ruled a homicide. The investigation continues.
