Police responded to reports of gunfire in the early morning hours of March 17, 2016, at Jones Walker Apartments in Fort Myers. Darien (age 23) was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital, but later died from his injuries.

FATAL HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATIONOn February 24, 2019, a tragic hit-and-run crash claimed the life of Patrick Santiago, a 37-year-old man from North Fort Myers.
Patrick, of North Fort Myers, was walking along Beau Drive near Hancock Bridge Parkway in the early morning hours — around 1:40 AM — when an unknown vehicle struck him.
The driver fled the scene, leaving Patrick critically injured. He was transported to a local hospital, but died from his injuries the following day.
Despite ongoing investigation efforts, the suspect vehicle and driver have never been identified. This case remains unsolved.
There was a 2012-2016 Cadillac Escalade, white in color, that departed from the RaceTrac Gas Station around the time of the crash. At this time, the Cadillac driver is a potential withness; therefore, FHP troopers are searching to locate the Cadillac and interview the driver.

SEEKING INFORMATION - HELP US SOLVE THIS CASE!
On April 21, 2013, Fort Myers Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the Renaissance Preserve community late at night.
Paul Baldwin (20) and Jiatarios "JoJo" Brunson (17) were both found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to a hospital, but later died from their injuries.
Witnesses reported that a pickup truck pulled up and someone fired multiple shots from the vehicle.

On September 10, 2020, at approximately 9:20 PM, deputies with the Hendry County Sheriff's Office responded to multiple reports of gunfire at the Harlem Gardens Apartments in Clewiston.
Upon arrival, officers located 34-year-old Anthony Balkcom suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was transported for medical treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that multiple suspects exited a vehicle and opened fire in the area, with evidence indicating numerous shots were fired. Detectives believe additional individuals may have knowledge of the shooters and the events leading up to the homicide.

The Fort Myers Police Department is seeking information regarding the murder of Aubrey Byron Carter, date of birth 8/29/1960.
On January 27, 2024, at approximately 1:30 PM, Officers responded to a vacant field located at 1500 Markland Avenue, where Carter’s body was located.

PARK ROAD SHOOTING
Young was 18 and Jones was 22 when they were killed at the Park Road home on December 15, 2017, in Lehigh Acres.
Both Jones and Young were shot through a window of a residence while playing video games in a back bedroom.
At least two persons outside fired multiple gunshots into the residence from two different firearms.
